Welshpool
Set in the early LMS period, this 7mm scale layout by Ralph Seymour combines the standard gauge Cambrian and GWR/LNWR lines with the narrow gauge Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway, recreating some classic views.

PLAN OF THE MONTH
Grimsby Blundell Park
An ideal town terminus plan, devised and built by Ian Clark. Grimsby Blundell Park depicts a ‘just supposing’ situation in which the Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway stopped in the famous fishing port, rather than continue its tracks onto the promenade at Cleethorpes.

Seaton station
The Southern Railway’s distinctive ‘Nouveau’ concrete architecture showed itself at the end of the branch to this Devon resort in the form of a rebuilt structure from the 1930s. Steve Flint and Callum Willcox examine this building, the one-time local station of Railway Modeller, with drawings by Steve Croucher.

Phil Eames undertook many changes to this 4mm scale recreation of Burton’s railways in the 1988 – 1991 period; some major (doubling the length to 40') and others minor (changing from EM to P4). Modelling the brewery industry hereabouts meant modelling barrels – lots and lots of barrels!

Prolific layout builder Rob Ogden makes a return to O gauge modelling with this take on the Anglesey terminus in the late BR steam era. The project was introduced in the January 2019 issue.

    This location, the highest main line station in England amidst the scenic wonders of the Yorkshire Dales, marks in model form the completion of phase two of Ian Nuttall's mammoth project to model the Settle & Carlisle in the 1930s in OO.

    Marks Tey
    This Essex station marks the junction between the former Great Eastern Railway main line - which runs north-east from London to Suffolk and Norfolk - and the branch to Sudbury. Ian Stock considers its potential for modelling, both in the present day and the 1960s.

    The Glasgow & South Western had a trio of these locomotives, designed by Peter Drummond and used for shunting, as John Treays relates.

    A freight-orientated Midlands scheme employing two decks, recreating the heavy coal traffic which flowed through this unprepossessing Leicestershire town. It was designed by Ian Stock in his preferred N gauge.

    The North Eastern Railway built distinctive over-track signal boxes along the Newcastle to Carlisle line, and elements of several (chiefly Wylam) were used to create a 1:148 scale replica, as Peter Brown explains.
