Signal Box Interior

Adds the finishing touches to any signal box (See Ratio 500, 503, 536, 552 and Wills SS48 kits); it contains all you need to fit out a typical signal box including a 20-lever frame and a level crossing operating wheel. Glue and paints required to complete model.

Modular Covered Footbridge

With its fine scale latticework and curved section roof, this typical footbridge will add interest and a sense of importance to any model station.The versatile kit design means that the stairs can be assembled to face in either direction or straight off the end of the bridge. Additional kits can be used to create multiple spans, whilst larger, busier stations often had 2 stairways to each platform, leading off in both directions. Could also be used without the roof sections at a large terminus under an overall station canopy. Coaling Tower

These towers are an impressive sight and were an essential feature on mainline railways. The Pecoscene ranges provide the perfect loading material, Real Coal (PS-330 -332), Limestone (PS-342 and 3), Sand (PS-344), Iron Ore (PS-340), Grey Stone (PS-300- 307), and Brown Stone (PS-310 - 317) for a quarry, mine or pit loading hopper. Carriage Cleaning Platform

Where carriages, multiple unit sets or modern locos are stored for cleaning and maintenance, narrow platforms are provided for access. Cattle Dock

A common feature of country stations large and small, whilst market town cattle docks could be very large indeed. Our model is of the one at Yeovil Pen Mill (GWR) Station, Somerset. Livestock (Modelscene Cows Ref. 5100, Sheep and Lambs Ref. 5110, Pigs Ref. 5108, and Horses Ref.5105) was conveyed on British railways until around 1973, although many cattle docks remained in place unused, becoming overgrown - an interesting scenic feature. Coal Staithes

Suitable for extending the Coal Depot (Ref 532) or as a stand alone item. The Ratio 526 Coal Sacks kit and Peco Scene Real Coal Refs PS-330,1 and 2 can provide extra detailing. Glue and paints required to complete model. Footprint: 75mm x 32mm

Coaling Stage

Concrete Footbridge

GWR/LMS Joint Loading Gauge

Locomotive Lifting Hoist

Locomotive Servicing Depot

The kit comprises a coaling stage, water tower with crane, and a hoist for loading the coal. This model and the Engine Shed kit (Ref 522) make a good starting point for any layout in need of steam engine facilities. Occupation Crossing

Single track crossing for a landowner whose property is on both sides of the railway line. Glue and paints required to complete model.

Oil Depot

Oil depot for distribution of domestic oil, which was transferred to road vehicles to deliver to domestic customers. Kit includes hut, base , pipe fittings, catwalk, ladders and Esso transfers. Platform/Ground Level Signal Box

Retaining Walls

Often seen supporting railway cuttings and embankments in urban areas where there is insufficient space for earth slopes. Make cuttings, yard walls or raised railway viaducts with these versatile sections. Station Barrow Crossing

Placed at the foot of platform end ramps, barrow crossings allow light goods and luggage to be transferred across a double track to an adjoining platform by railway staff. Glue and paints required to complete model.

16 Telegraph poles, these also carried railway bell codes and phone connections between signal boxes and stations as well as GPO lines. Height 100mm

Traversing Crane

From the late 1960's the spread of shipping containers revolutionised the transport of goods. On the railways marshalling yards gave way to intermodal depots as containers are transferred between ships, trains and road vehicles. The Rolling Underframe kit (Ref 546A) can be added to transform this unit into a movable crane. Water Crane and Fire Devil

Stations often had these Water Cranes at the end of the platforms so the locomotives could be refilled without detaching them from the train. Also included is a coke brazier, called a 'fire devil' to keep the cast iron pipe from freezing up during the winter. These cranes were usually supplied by a large water tank (see Ratio 506 and 551 and Wills SS34 kits). Water Tower

A fairly universal design seen at many steam loco depots. The kit includes water gauge, water crane, fire buckets and lamp. Use the Ratio 413 Water Crane and Fire Devil kit if further cranes are required. Water Tower, GW Pillar

Water towers with cranes were generally used on platforms and in other areas with restricted space. This kit will build either a tower with a flat top or the familiar GWR conical type. Includes stove, water crane etc. as well as etched brass chain and ladder; glue and paints required to complete model. Use the Ratio Water Crane and Fire Devil Kit 413 if further cranes are required.

Water Trough

A essential feature on steam era main lines for over 100 years; this kit contains parts to make 760mm of troughs and includes relevant signboards. Use in conjunction with the large Water Tower (Ref 551). Glue and paints are required to complete this model.

Weighbridge and Hut

Many goods yards had weigh bridges so that the 'carriage price' of a load to be carried by rail could be costed. Goods were then loaded into the goods shed. Wooden Lineside Huts

2 huts for shelter and tool storage or with many other uses; platelayers huts, tool stores, lamp huts etc. - even garden/allotment sheds or temporary site huts. Glue and paints required to complete model. Footprint: 42mm x 32mm each

Yard Crane

Used for loading goods onto wagons, these cranes were to be found by bay platforms in small stations with no goods sheds or in the yard of larger stations. The kit includes fine chain for the operating drive wheels and cord for the jib. Yard Office

Often, the yard foreman would have an office near the yard gate, for completing paperwork and answering the telephone (don't forget the telegraph poles [Ref 452]!).
