This ‘cut-and-shut’ exercise has been carried out on a 7mm scale Parkside kit by Chris Gwilliam to produce a 1937 10' wheelbase van to pair up with the 12' WB version he built previously.

John Brien reveals the layout built by a small enclave of members of the Hull Miniature Railway Society that has a hankering for Southern steam in OO.

Simon Holtby adjusts the actual railway history of the highlands of Scotland to incorporate the planned but not constructed rail route up the Great Glen, alongside Loch Ness. This layout suggestion (for N gauge) is based on the supposed divergence of the line to Kyle of Lochalsh from the Inverness – Fort Augustus main lines.

Set in the early LMS period, this 7mm scale layout by Ralph Seymour combines the standard gauge Cambrian and GWR/LNWR lines with the narrow gauge Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway, recreating some classic views.

PLAN OF THE MONTH
Grimsby Blundell Park
An ideal town terminus plan, devised and built by Ian Clark. Grimsby Blundell Park depicts a ‘just supposing’ situation in which the Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway stopped in the famous fishing port, rather than continue its tracks onto the promenade at Cleethorpes.

Seaton station
The Southern Railway’s distinctive ‘Nouveau’ concrete architecture showed itself at the end of the branch to this Devon resort in the form of a rebuilt structure from the 1930s. Steve Flint and Callum Willcox examine this building, the one-time local station of Railway Modeller, with drawings by Steve Croucher.
