Carriage Cleaning Platform

Where carriages, multiple unit sets or modern locos are stored for cleaning and maintenance, narrow platforms are provided for access. Still widely used today alongside carriage sidings, and also within storage and maintenance facilities (See Ratio 527 Carriage Shed and Wills Modern SSM300 Modern Industrial Building and SSM315 Extension kits). Supplied with pre-coloured parts although painting and/or weathering can add realism (See the Pecoscene Weathering Powder range PS-360 - 365); glue is required to complete this model. Footprint: 500mm long plus access steps

Cattle Dock

A common feature of country stations large and small, whilst market town cattle docks could be very large indeed. Our model is of the one at Yeovil Pen Mill (GWR) Station, Somerset. Livestock (Modelscene Cows Ref. 5100, Sheep and Lambs Ref. 5110, Pigs Ref. 5108, and Horses Ref.5105) was conveyed on British railways until around 1973, although many cattle docks remained in place unused, becoming overgrown - an interesting scenic feature. Supplied with pre-coloured parts although painting and/or weathering can add realism; glue is required to complete this model. Footprint 170mm x 110mm

Coal Staithes

Suitable for extending the Coal Depot (Ref 532) or as a stand alone item. The Ratio 526 Coal Sacks kit and Peco Scene Real Coal Refs PS-330,1 and 2 can provide extra detailing. Glue and paints required to complete model. Footprint: 75mm x 32mm

Coaling Stage

An essential part of every small steam loco depot, add some Peco Scene Real Coal Refs PS-330/1/2 for full effect. Supplied with pre-coloured parts although painting and/or weathering (Peco Scene PS-362 Coal Dust) can add realism; glue is required to complete this model. Footprint 60mm x 55mm

Coaling Tower

These towers are an impressive sight and were an essential feature on mainline railways. The Pecoscene ranges provide the perfect loading material, Real Coal (PS-330 -332), Limestone (PS-342 and 3), Sand (PS-344), Iron Ore (PS-340), Grey Stone (PS-300- 307), and Brown Stone (PS-310 - 317) for a quarry, mine or pit loading hopper. Supplied with pre-coloured parts although painting and/or weathering can add realism (See the Pecoscene Weathering Powder range PS-360 - 365); glue is required to complete this model. Footprint: 116mm x 92mm, Height 181mm

Concrete Trunking

Carries the cable between Relay boxes (Ref 257) and Control Centres. Kit makes 1150mm of trunking plus 8 trunking junctions. Supplied with pre-coloured parts although painting and/or weathering can add realism; glue is required to complete this model.

Goods Yard Weighbridge

One of the fundamental aspects of safety on the railway was that wagons should never be overloaded. To do so would risk trains not having sufficient braking capacity to slow and stop safely. To manage loading at many industrial locations, each wagon would pass over a Weighbridge - to check their weight. Each wagon would display its tare weight, which could be deducted from the total weight, to ascertain the net weight of the load - simple mathematics! The new Ratio kit is a great representation of a typical Weighbridge, not dissimilar to the one, once located at Shildon Wagon Works in the North East. Combining a mixture of materials, the plastic parts make up the hut and laser-cut wood parts form the actual weighing scales, which fit in and around a length of ST-201 PECO Setrack track, included in the kit.

Another useful addition to the extensive range of Ratio OO/HO scale railway structure kits.

GWR/LMS Joint Loading Gauge

After loading, open wagons were checked for height using this simple gauge to ensure that loads did not hit bridges etc. and therefore were usually placed near the yard exit. Supplied with pre-coloured parts although painting and/or weathering can add realism; glue is required to complete this model.

Hoist

Used for light lifting work in goods depots and other yards. Also to be found inside goods sheds for unloading wagons. Chain included; kit requires glue and paints to complete.
