PLAN OF THE MONTH
On from Bridport
Modellers have used the planned but never-built main line which would have run west of Dorchester along the English Channel coast towards Exeter since the 1950s, when John Charman built his Mk.I version of Charford.Alec Fry fell under the spell, and began construction of an OO gauge system, presented here as an ingenious plan suitable for any railway location that appeals.
SCALE DRAWINGS
LNER V2 2-6-2
One of Gresley’s finest designs, these highly capable Prairies are described by W G Ascough; drawings from our Ian Beattie archive, updated by Steve Croucher.
INSIDE THIS ISSUE
Project of the Month
Trees from pan scourers – Rachael Holloway-Reid, a member of the ‘home team’ in Series 1 of The Great Model Railway Challenge, the Fawley Fliers, demonstrates how this economical method of tree-making has encouraged her to continue scenic modelling even after the cameras have stopped rolling.
Sandy Bay
Inspired by the long-vanished railway along the Yorkshire coast from Scarborough to Middlesbrough, with its characterful iron viaducts across coastal inlets, this N gauge layout was built by Kevin Smith, using an unwanted flush-faced interior door as a baseboard.
