Wagon 22 was an open bogie vehicle of 8 ton capacity, built at the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway’s workshop at Pilton in 1903 to complement the existing fleet, which included a number of similar vehicles built by Bristol Wagon and Carriage Works. These semi-permanent close-couplings fit in the NEM pockets on all our 009 rolling stock. They can replace the conventional 009 hoop-and-loop couplings by pulling them out with fine nosed pliers. Our slate wagons sets GR-320 and 321 are already fitted with these closer couplings; spare conventional 009 couplings are included with them to enable them to be coupled to a loco etc.
