Stone Goods Shed

This kit represents a typical Goods Shed, essential to most railway stations for the storage and transfer of dry goods to road vehicles for distribution. The Peco range of wagon loads (e.g. NR-203 Timber Loads) for 10 and 15 ft. wagons provide realistic deliveries. Square Water Tower

This common type of water tower is usually found tucked away and used to supply individual water cranes (2 included with kit - Ratio Water Crane kit 212 is available if more are required). Yard Crane

This basic crane is an essential for all station yards, often found inside goods sheds or on loading banks. Used to lift loads up to 1 ton, the boom can be swung round on its base to transfer goods from road to rail vehicles. Water Crane and Fire Devil

Stations often had these Water Cranes at the end of the platforms so the locomotives could be refilled without detaching them from the train. Also included is a coke brazier, called a 'fire devil' to keep the cast iron pipe from freezing up during the winter. These cranes were usually supplied by a large water tank (see Ratio Water Tower kits 215, 256 and Loco Servicing Depot kit 206). Platform Ramps

GWR Station Train Shed

This superb kit is modelled on the overall roof at Ashburton, Devon. Designed for use with Station Building kit (Ref 204), it will enable you to build a GWR station quickly and easily. Although a specific prototype, the design is typical of many other regions including some tropical countries where it was intended to shelter passengers from the sun as well as rain. Engine Shed

Provide a home for your locos, giving them cover from the elements and a place for repairs and maintenance. It is normal to find a water tower (Ratio Water Tower 215 and Large Water Tower 256 kits), and coaling stage (Ratio Loco Servicing Depot Ref 206) nearby, and an inspection pit (Peco NB-56F) was also often included. Cattle Dock

A common feature of country stations large and small, whilst market town cattle docks could be very large indeed. Our model is of the one at Yeovil Pen Mill (GWR) Station, Somerset. Livestock (See Modelscene Cows Ref. 5179, Sheep and Lambs Ref. 5177, Pigs Ref. 5176, and Horses Ref. 5178) was conveyed on British railways until around 1973, although many cattle docks remained in place unused, becoming overgrown - an interesting scenic feature.
