Sparks Fly As Accurascale Class 92 Breaks Cover

Accurascale has today unveiled the first engineering sample of its second locomotive, the highly anticipated Class 92 electric locomotive.
There are samples currently being assessed by both Accurascale and ESU, with Accurascale considering the fit, finish and accuracy of the locomotive, while ESU focus on the working pantographs and electronics which will feature in the locomotive. This will include the powerpack capacitors, various lighting arrangements, including cab desk lighting, and DCC functionality. This level of functionality will make the Accurascale Class 92 the most technically advanced and impressive OO locomotive on the market and a talking piece for any layout or collection.
The weighty prototype samples feature a large 5 pole skew-wound mother with twin flywheels, helical cut gearing for smoothness and all-wheel drive and is currently undergoing performance testing and assessment with Accurascale.
Details are key on any new model, and the Class 92 certainly doesn’t disappoint, particularly in the roof section. The complex collection of equipment has been caught superbly, with a large array of separately applied detail mirroring the prototypes. Etched grills also add an extra level of finesse and detail to the Accurascale Dysons, as well as etched windscreen wipers, providing a top of the line model these interesting, complex and charismatic beasts deserve.

Several areas of the model are in need of improvement, including the cabside window area, bogie detail, as well as extensive testing of the pantographs. These areas will be rectified on the production models customers receive.

Prices for the Class 92 are £160 for DCC ready, and DCC Sound fitted (with Legomanbiffo sounds) is £250. The delivery date for the Class 92 is now slated for Q1 2021, COVID19 permitting. A full video demonstrating the Class 92 operating pantographs and a further update will be available on the Accurascale website and YouTube channel in the coming weeks.

Customers can secure their order for these impressive models for just £30 deposit via the Accurascale website www.accurascale.co.uk
