Accurascale has unveiled a fully tooled sample of its first ready-to-run steam locomotive model - the GWR Collett Manor 4-6-0 in OO, plans for which were first announced in our April 2021 issue.
The sample pictured here makes much use diecasting (including the boiler and running plate), combined with etched and plastic components. The manufacturer are keen to point out that this is still an early tooling sample, with further refinements and tweaks yet to be made before progressing onto decorated samples.
Listing to customer feedback, further tooling variations, include alternative driving wheels with no webbed areas opposite the balance weights and an alternative 1952 style firebox washout plug arrangement will be incorporated into the tooling suite. Other improvement included thickening the slidebars, removing the cutouts from the front of the cylinders, add the valve gear splashplate on the fireman's side, reinstate the missing central pipe on the cab backhead, reduce the length of the elongated rivets on the front running plate and add the lip to the front and rear of the raised section of the running plate over the cylinders.
Delivery is anticipated for the fourth quarter of 2021 with prices set at £169.99 for DC / DDC ready locomotives, and £259.99 for DCC sound fitted locomotives - recording for which has been provided by 7820 "Dinmore Manor” owned by Dinmore Manor Ltd. based on the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway. Pre-orders can be placed directly from the Accurascale or with one of the manufacturer’s 90 stockists.
