LINESIDE HUT CARD KIT INSTRUCTIONS
Below are instructions on how to build the exclusive gift given free with with printed copies of the December 2023 issue of Railway Modeller. (Instructions prepared by ATD Models).
OO Gauge Kit Instructions
- Remove the Outer Wall and place it face up on your cutting mat. Then, locate the score line to the right-hand side of the door and carefully run the tip of your blade along the line. This will enable the door to open.
- Turn over the Outer Wall so it’s face down on your cutting mat. Next, detach the Door Inner and glue it face up to the inside of the door, ensuring it’s left-aligned with a small gap between the ‘hinge’. This will enable the door to freely open.
- Cut out the OO-Scale glazing along the cut line, indicated by the scissor icon. Apply a small amount of glue around the perimeter of the glazing and glue it into position. Ensure the print on the glazing is aligned with the window aperture.
- Fold the crease lines on the Outer Wall to form the shape of the building.
- Detach Inner 1 and glue it to the inside of the outer wall. Repeat this step for Inner 2, 3 and 4. Each of the Inner Walls should be aligned with the top of the corresponding walls, leaving around 0.5mm rebate at the bottom, designed to accommodate the floor.
- Detach the Floor and glue it into position. The tab should sit within the fireplace aperture. Be careful not to glue the door to the floor!
- Detach the Chimney Packers and glue them together.
- Detach the Chimney Breast and place it face down on your work surface. Glue the inner Fireplace piece to the reverse side of the Chimney Breast and then glue the chimney packers into position. Ensure there is an even gap between the edge of the packers and the crease lines.
- Apply a bead of glue to the tabs either side of the packers and then fold them inwards, bonding them to the side of the packers. Apply firm pressure on the tabs until the glue has cured to ensure a strong bond.
- At the top of the Chimney Breast component, fold the crease lines to form the chimney stack. Then apply a small amount of glue to bond the sides together. This step can be a little fiddly due to the size of the part you’re forming, so we recommend taking your time.
- Apply glue to the inside of the Chimney Breast. Then, hook the chimney stack over the apex of the building. Align the packers either side of the fireplace opening and then apply pressure to bond the chimney breast to the Outer Walls.
- Detach the BB3 Packers. Take a packer and glue it to the top of an outer side wall around 0.5mm from the top. Then take another packer and glue it on top of the first packer. Repeat this step for the opposite wall.
- Detach the Roof and Inner Roof. Then glue them together, back to back. Align the Inner Roof centrally to the Roof.
- Run a bead of glue across the top of each wall. Then, bond the roof to the walls. Apply firm pressure on the roof until the glue has cured to ensure a strong bond.
- Apply a small amount of glue to the edge of the roof line above the door. Then detach BB1 and glue it into position. This step can be a little fiddly, so we recommend taking your time.
- Apply a small amount of glue to the edge of the roof line either side of the Chimney Breast. Then detach both BB2 components and glue into position. This step can be a little fiddly, so we recommend taking your time.
- Glue both BB3 components to the BB3 packers either side of the building.
- Detach the Chimney Tiles and bond them to the hips of the chimney breast.
- Detach the Capping Stone and glue it to the top of the Chimney Stack.
