OO/HO Setrack Planbook

Regularly revised and updated, the 00 and N Gauge Setrack Planbooks are an ideal introduction to the hobby. Each of the layout plans is illustrated with a suggestion of how the layout can be transformed into a realistic representation of a real railway, and a detailed list of the components required is also supplied. Plus pages of useful tips on constructing baseboards, track laying etc - in fact all you need to know to make a good start. (Planbooks are included in our 00 Starter Track sets Ref ST-100 and 101, and our N Starter Track Set Ref ST-300).

Flexible Track, Concrete Sleeper

Concrete sleeper track has been in use on the railways of Britain since around 1940, usually combined with wooden sleeper turnouts and crossings, and this track is a faithful representation of this design.

If you wish to mix wheel standards on your 00/H0 layout, this is the trackage to choose. Code 100 rail allows flange depths up to 1.6mm which means that both vintage and current stock will run happily together. The wide range of turnouts and crossings in this series includes every type, and the geometry of this range has been cleverly designed to make it easy to build convenient, complex and aesthetically pleasing formations.

Tactile Paviors

These sheets are invaluable for scratchbuilding, saving many hours of repetitive work creating the various surface patterns and textures. They are the same as those used in the Craftsman kits to make extension work easier. Each pack contains 4 sheets 130mm x 75mm of injection moulded styrene approximately 2mm thick, making them rigid enough to be self supporting.

Turnout, Medium Radius, Concrete, Left Hand

These turnouts emulate the modern style of concrete sleepered trackwork which features Pandrol (TM) style rail fixings. Concrete sleepered turnouts had previously been impractical due to the concrete being broken by the impact caused as wheels passed through the frog area. This has been resolved by redesigning the frog so that the flange supports the wheel across the gap in the running rail.

Peco Streamline Code 75 track meets the standards of enthusiasts who prefer to run trains on scale height rail. Today most manufacturers' wheels are suitable for use on Code 75 track but some vintage models may have flanges which are too deep to clear the rail fixings. Code 75 can be easily combined with code 100 track by using the SL-113 Transition Track.

The wide range of turnouts and crossings in this series includes every type, and the geometry of this range has been cleverly designed to make it easy to build convenient, complex and aesthetically pleasing formations using combinations of small, medium and large radius turnouts and crossings. Layout plans suggestions can be found in our publications ‘Track Plans for Layouts to Suit all Locations’ (Ref PM-202), ‘60 Plans for Small Railways’ (Ref no PB-3), and ‘Track Plans for Various Locations’ (Ref no PB-66).

For more details on Electrofrog turnouts, see our Wiring the Layout publications Nos 4 and 21.

Normally conductive; although the electrical connections between the 2 rail types can be cut to provide an electrical break. Supplied in a pack of 4.

Bullhead 00 Gauge Streamline Track

Bullhead track has been in use on the railways since the earliest times, and is still very much in evidence today. This flexible track provides a highly detailed and faithful 00 scale replication of this long standing feature of Britain's railways.

Our SL-114 Bullhead Rail Joiners include bolt detail and therefore complement the fine detail of this track range.

Manyways' Overall Roof

A kit of pre coloured and clear parts that can be built in a number of different ways and can be stood on a platform or on ground level.

Skylights

Pack of 2 which can also be used as cold frames. Approximately 32mm long and 22mm wide each. Glue and paints required to complete model.

Security Fencing

Supplied with pre-coloured parts although painting and/or weathering can add realism; glue is required to complete this model. This pack contains:
‚Ģ 1600mm of fencing
‚Ģ Includes road and rail gates.

Modern Platform Lamps

These Modern Platform Lamps kits represent the typical kind of lamp standard found, admittedly, not just on platforms, but along any street or thoroughfare. With optional attachments included, such as CCTV cameras, loudspeakers and station signs, these are very versatile kits for modellers in both scales. Produced mainly in plastic, with easy-to-assemble parts and clear instructions provided, the OO/HO scale kits have the added advantage of using brass tubing for the main posts, so give the option to be made operational (additional parts would need to be sourced).

SMS OO Derelict Barn

A versatile small barn/stores kit which can be assembled as a derelict or pristine building with a choice of wall finishes.

OO Bullhead Small Radius Turnout - Left Hand

The PECO Streamline OO Bullhead track range has shaped up to be a very comprehensive system comprising flexible track, bullhead joiners, buffer stop, large radius, medium radius turnout, a crossing, double & single slips, Y turnouts and now Small Radius Turnouts. There's enough there already for modellers to build a truly authentic steam-to-diesel transition period layout.

  • PECO Streamline OO Bullhead Small Radius Turnout, Unifrog
  • Shares the same geometry as the existing Streamline Code 100, 75 flat bottom tracks systems
  • Compatible with existing Bullhead system
  • Uses standard SL-110 Code 75 rail joiner or the SL-114 Bullhead rail joiner
  • Length 185mm
  • Radius 610mm
  • Frog angle 12 degrees
  • Unifrog
  • High quality nickel silver rail for all rail parts, for optimal electrical conductivity

British Railways Bulk Grain Wagon Kit (LNER)

Around 100 of these vans were built by the LNER between 1921 and 1936 for the transportation of grain, initially from the Port of Hull. In time their use became more widespread, often finding work transporting barley from Lincolnshire to the maltings in Scotland. The remaining wagons were retired in the mid-1970s.

Our new kit really is all-new. Brand new tooling producing some very fine plastic mouldings. In addition to that the kit includes brass bearings, fine scale metal wheels and NEM pockets for the tension lock couplers included. A set of waterslide decals for both the LNER and BR periods are included. Assembly is really straight forward aided by the clear and helpful instructions. The resulting model is one that would make a fine addition to any layout, and from a retailer's point of view there is the added attraction of being able to sell multiple kits given that modellers would likely require a rake of these wagons!

Goods Yard Weighbridge

One of the fundamental aspects of safety on the railway was that wagons should never be overloaded. To do so would risk trains not having sufficient braking capacity to slow and stop safely. To manage loading at many industrial locations, each wagon would pass over a Weighbridge - to check their weight. Each wagon would display its tare weight, which could be deducted from the total weight, to ascertain the net weight of the load - simple mathematics! The new Ratio kit is a great representation of a typical Weighbridge, not dissimilar to the one, once located at Shildon Wagon Works in the North East. Combining a mixture of materials, the plastic parts make up the hut and laser-cut wood parts form the actual weighing scales, which fit in and around a length of ST-201 PECO Setrack track, included in the kit.

Another useful addition to the extensive range of Ratio OO/HO scale railway structure kits.

Code 70, No.8, Left Hand Turnout, Unifrog

Whilst our HO Code 83 track is perfect for modelling American mainlines, this new Code 70 track is just right for secondary lines, lightly-used branches, sidings, etc. Indeed, it will be perfect for modelling the early-to-mid 20th century railroading era when lighter rail was more commonly used. Featuring accurate rail spike detail, correctly proportioned ties (sleepers) and nickel silver rail, this new flexible track has been produced to the same high standard that modellers have come to expect from PECO and confirms to the specifications laid down by the NMRA..
