Wagon 22 was an open bogie vehicle of 8 ton capacity, built at the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway’s workshop at Pilton in 1903 to complement the existing fleet, which included a number of similar vehicles built by Bristol Wagon and Carriage Works. The LandBR had no regular freight workings, and goods vehicles were added to passenger trains as required. These semi-permanent close-couplings fit in the NEM pockets on all our 009 rolling stock. They can replace the conventional 009 hoop-and-loop couplings by pulling them out with fine nosed pliers. Our slate wagons sets GR-320 and 321 are already fitted with these closer couplings; spare conventional 009 couplings are included with them to enable them to be coupled to a loco etc.

This is a neatly proportioned little red brick building with a charm of its own. With each wall having an individual feature, namely a door, window, chimney and rainwater downpipe, it looks interesting when viewed from any angle. This workshop is of a timber construction with felt roof, rainwater gutter and downpipe to the rear. Some offcuts of timber lie on the ground along the front wall while piled crates and a barrel are stored against the left end wall. Although labelled as a joiner's shop, this can be changed to whatever is required, for example a station name would turn this into a backwater branch line waiting room. It could be seen in a commercial environment as an office or stores. Size (mm) L 110; W 40; H40.
