SR 12ton Even Planked Ventilated Box Van Kit

Nissen Hut
Originally a war time structure, many of these have survived and found to have many different uses. The kit will make up 2 full length (approx 170mm long and 75mm wide) huts; however, the supplied internal bracings are also detailed as ends so it is also possible to make up 4 shorter (85mm long x 75mm wide) huts if required. GWR Brick Signal Box
This kit is a model of a typical GWR brick built signal box with a hipped roof, built between 1896 and 1921. In practice there were many small differences between individual signal boxes as they were often tailored to fit the location, a good example is on the South Devon Railway at Buckfastleigh. Fogmans Hut
This kit replicates the precast concrete Southern Region example, often paired with the Concrete Hut (ref 518). A Fogman, when fog or snow reduced visibility, placed detonators on the rails ahead of signals or temporary speed restrictions imposed due to works etc. to provide additional warning to train drivers. The kit also includes a set of platelayers tools. Glue and paint are required to complete this kit. Footprint 20mm x 15mm.
Traversing Crane
From the late 1960's the spread of shipping containers revolutionised the transport of goods. On the railways marshalling yards gave way to intermodal depots as containers are transferred between ships, trains and road vehicles. The Rolling Underframe kit (Ref 546A) can be added to transform this unit into a movable crane. Locomotive Lifting Hoist
Modelled on a hoist found at Plymouth Laira depot which is still in use today assisting with the maintenance of Locos and rolling stock. Where carriages, multiple unit sets or modern locos are stored for cleaning and maintenance, narrow platforms are provided for access. BR Banana Van
300 of these wagons were built between 1952 and 1954. They were originally fitted with steam heating, but this was later removed. Used mainly by the companies Geest and Fyffes, these vans could be part of a mixed train or a 'block load' on their way from the shipping dock. BR 'Clayhood' China Wagon
BR built 875 of these wagons between 1954 and 1960 for use on the West Country china clay workings. The first 100 wagons were unfitted, but all were later fitted with Morton vacuum brakes. Yard Office
Often, the yard foreman would have an office near the yard gate, for completing paperwork and answering the telephone (don't forget the telegraph poles [Ref 452]!). Water Tower, GW Pillar
Water towers with cranes were generally used on platforms and in other areas with restricted space. This kit will build either a tower with a flat top or the familiar GWR conical type. Coal Sacks
Kit includes 48 coal sacks. Initially coal was transported in 12 ton wagons to railway yards. Coal merchants then transferred it to heavy duty 1 cwt sacks for supply to customers. Weighbridge and Hut
Many goods yards had weigh bridges so that the 'carriage price' of a load to be carried by rail could be costed. Goods were then loaded into the goods shed. Engine Shed and Hut
Provide a home for your locos, giving them cover from the elements and a place for repairs and maintenance.
