Locomotive Lifting Hoist

Modelled on a hoist found at Plymouth Laira depot which is still in use today assisting with the maintenance of Locos and rolling stock. An Inspection Pit (Peco LK-56/156) was also often provided.The Rolling Underframe kit (Ref 546A) can be added to transform this unit into a movable crane. Carriage Cleaning Platform

Where carriages, multiple unit sets or modern locos are stored for cleaning and maintenance, narrow platforms are provided for access. Used for light lifting work in goods depots and other yards. Also to be found inside goods sheds for unloading wagons. Chain included; kit requires glue and paints to complete.

Retaining Walls

Often seen supporting railway cuttings and embankments in urban areas where there is insufficient space for earth slopes. Make cuttings, yard walls or raised railway viaducts with these versatile sections. Yard Office

Often, the yard foreman would have an office near the yard gate, for completing paperwork and answering the telephone (don't forget the telegraph poles [Ref 452]!). Water Tower, GW Pillar

Water towers with cranes were generally used on platforms and in other areas with restricted space. This kit will build either a tower with a flat top or the familiar GWR conical type. Includes stove, water crane etc. as well as etched brass chain and ladder; glue and paints required to complete model. Use the Ratio Water Crane and Fire Devil Kit 413 if further cranes are required.

Weighbridge and Hut

Many goods yards had weigh bridges so that the 'carriage price' of a load to be carried by rail could be costed. Goods were then loaded into the goods shed. Single track crossing for a landowner whose property is on both sides of the railway line. Glue and paints required to complete model.

Water Tower

A fairly universal design seen at many steam loco depots. The kit includes water gauge, water crane, fire buckets and lamp. Station Barrow Crossing

Placed at the foot of platform end ramps, barrow crossings allow light goods and luggage to be transferred across a double track to an adjoining platform by railway staff. Glue and paints required to complete model.

SR Loading Gauge

Police Telephone Box

Based on a design of call box introduced from the 1920s, in real life they contained a phone for use by the public in an emergency, and police officers could use them as miniature police stations, with facilities inside for compiling reports, taking lunch breaks and even temporarily holding suspects until assistance arrived! 

This is a nice and simple kit to assemble, moulded in appropriately-coloured dark blue, and supplied with waterslide decals to complete the details.

Garden Buildings and Accessories

 This kit comprises mostly of plastic injection moulded parts, plus a laser cut wooden sprue containing the lawnmower and roller.
