These specially reinforced ARP (Air Raid Precautions) signal boxes featured substantial construction, primarily to protect the locking room gear from bomb blasts during air raids in World War II. A number of similar signal box designs were still to be found around the rail network until quite recently, due to them being difficult to demolish!
The 554 includes all moulded parts required which are produced to a high standard and in base colours. Kit requires painting and light weathering to create the signal box pictured above.

A common feature of country stations large and small, whilst market town cattle docks could be very large indeed. Our model is of the one at Yeovil Pen Mill (GWR) Station, Somerset. Livestock (Modelscene Cows Ref. 5100, Sheep and Lambs Ref. 5110, Pigs Ref. 5108, and Horses Ref.5105) was conveyed on British railways until around 1973, although many cattle docks remained in place unused, becoming overgrown - an interesting scenic feature. A Fogman, when fog or snow reduced visibility, placed detonators on the rails ahead of signals or temporary speed restrictions imposed due to works etc. to provide additional warning to train drivers.
