Sonic Models N Gauge GWR 5600 Class Breaks Cover!

Sonic Models has revealed production samples of its forthcoming GWR 5600 Class 0-6-2T in N - plan for which were first announced in our January 2019. The 5600 marks manufacturers first powered model for the British market.

Designed by C B Collett, 200 of the 5600 class were built at Swindon (with a small number built in the North East due to capacity issues) between 1924 and 1928. Originally intended for traffic in south Wales they rapidly saw service across the GWR, and subsequently the western region of British Railways, from the South West to the Midlands. All were withdrawn by the end of 1965, with nine of the class preserved.

Produced in conjunction with Revolution Trains; specifications includes a coreless motor with eight wheels pick-up, NEM couplings, six-pin decoder socket with provisions for a speaker in the bunker, original or later style driving wheel balance weights, Swindon or Armstrong safety valves, detailed cab interior and accessory detail pack. 12 versions are to be produced covering a wide selection of GWR green, BR green and BR black liveries.

Once the samples have been approved the main batch will be cleared for shipping, with delivery expected later this summer. All versions can be pre-ordered via Rails of Sheffield; priced at £109.95.
