Revolution Trains & Rails of Sheffield have announced plans to produce Drax Power IIA-D biomass hoppers in N gauge.
These giant wagons – volumetrically the largest on the network until recently – were introduced in 2013 and a fleet of 225 are now in service ferrying imported biomass to the UK’s largest power station, Drax in North Yorkshire.
Model features will include NEM couplers, highly detailed bodies with a host of separately fitted details including hopper roof door opening rams, control gear and brake equipment. CAD work is complete, with the wagons now in the tooling stage. Proving samples are expected early in the New Year, with the finished product likely to be ready for shipping by summer 2021.
The models will be sold as twin packs exclusively by Rails of Sheffield priced at £79.95 per pair. A variety of different numbers and versions of the Drax livery will be available.
