Heljan has released images showing the latest progress with its forthcoming GWR large Prairie in 7mm scale, plans for which were first announced in our November 2015 issue. Having received factory-decorated samples in late 2016, the manufacturer subsequently decided to revisit the tooling and undertake a number of revisions, including new coupled wheels with a reduced tyre depth – as can be seen in the accompanying picture.
Limited versions from Tower too
Decorated samples from the revised tooling are expected soon, with delivery now planned for the third quarter of 2018. Five versions have been confirmed, covering GWR green, BR plain black, BR plain green and BR lined green liveries. The MSRP is £699.00. A number of Limited Edition versions have also been commissioned by the Blackpool-based retailer Tower Models.
The forthcoming Heljan O gauge Churchward Mogul has also benefitted from the tooling revisions undertaken on the large Prairie, there being many parts common to both models.
