This timeless design lasted right up to the demise of mechanical signalling. Use the Ratio Signal Box Interior kit No. 224 for a 20 lever frame, level crossing wheel and other detail. Supplied with pre-coloured parts although painting and/or weathering can add realism (See the Pecoscene Weathering Powder range PS-360 - 365); glue is required to complete this model. We have teamed up with DPD to produce this new modular kit in the Wills Modern range, replicating a typical local depot that might be found on industrial estates across the country, and quite possibly adjacent to the railway.

The modeller can choose where to place doors and windows, and whether to build as a stand-alone structure or as a low-relief backdrop. This kit is supplied with a fully detailed printed interior, so modellers can construct the building with doors and shutters open if they wish. There is even an office scene for the windows! The kit is also supplied with coloured parts, meaning that painting, whilst desirable for full authenticity, is not essential.

With optional attachments included, such as CCTV cameras, loudspeakers and station signs, these are very versatile kits for modellers in both scales. Produced mainly in plastic, with easy-to-assemble parts and clear instructions provided, the OO/HO scale kits have the added advantage of using brass tubing for the main posts, so give the option to be made operational (additional parts would need to be sourced).

Designed for modellers to give access to awkward corners of the layout, the NEW PECOscene Pro-Grass Detailer Applicator is a great addition to the range. Featuring a comfortable handle to hold and a long, slender neck to reach into cramped areas of the layout with ease, the applicator makes the addition of static grass around structures and track so much easier to achieve. Conveniently, the applicator is also supplied with two interchangeable sieve heads - one flared, the other straight, both of which can accommodate up to 6mm static grass fibres, and give the modeller options when deciding how much coverage is required. Powered by a 9v battery (not included), the applicator switch also lights up to indicate when power is on, a useful reminder!

Originally a war time structure, many of these have survived and found to have many different uses. NEW Wooden Laser-Cut Kits

Following on from the release of our Victorian houses, we have moved forward a century with these rather more utilitarian house kits, based on a design that first appeared in the 1960s. We have all seen these houses - they are all over the UK, forming a familiar feature in virtually every town and city.

There are 3 kits available: Low-relief Fronts & Backs, and the Full Building Kit. Easy and satisfying to build, the laser-cut detail is extremely fine, with wonderful brick and tile textures on the surface. The models also feature guttering and downpipes, a separate porch at the front and blinds in the windows, which can be positioned as desired. Once built the models can be painted to reflect the modeller's individual choice. 

You can easily imagine a row of these 1960s house backs lining up alongside the railway, or a small housing estate located close to the railway station - a perfect scene on the layout that can be enhanced with various other PECO, Ratio, Wills and Harburn Hamlet accessories.
