Vor der Verstaatlichung gab es zahlreiche Privatwagen, die man oft weit entfernt von ihrem Stützpunkt sah, wenn sie Rohstoffe und Vorräte wie Kohle einsammelten und fertige Waren lieferten. Alle Peco-Wagen verfügen über freilaufende Räder mit Steckachsen.
