On the 23rd March 2020 we took the decision to temporarily close the Peco factory and offices for the safety of our precious staff and to help protect the NHS and as from Monday 27th April 2020 we have been able to resume production and reopen the offices. Over the past 5 weeks there has been a great deal of preparation work undertaken to allow this to happen safely and carefully following the government guidance.
Any office staff who can work from home have now been set up to do so, this includes most of the sales and publications teams. The magazines have continued to be expertly put together using remote working tools from various home locations and files sent to the printers in the normal way, fantastic teamwork. Obviously some shops are now closed, so if you are struggling to find copies of Railway Modeller or Continental Modeller why not consider a subscription?
In the factory in Beer we have implemented a split shift to help allow us to keep everyone spaced out and safe. It has been an enormous task and initially we don't expect to be at full production capacity, but it is a safe and steady start that we can build on over the coming weeks. The Ratio business in Buckfastleigh is also back to work under expert guidance, which is very good news.
Keeping good stock levels will be challenging for the next few months and we will do our best to distribute products fairly and evenly.
We would like to thank our retailers and end customers for their patience and understanding during this difficult time but please be assured we are doing the best we can to ensure that the wonderful and relaxing hobby of model railways will continue on a strong footing although with slightly different arrangements.
We do hope you are all safe and well and are having fun with your model railways.
