The biggest model railway show in the UK, due to take place at the NEC this November, has been postponed.
Concern for public safety and the wellbeing of all attendees in the light of the continued uncertainty over the Coronavirus outbreak were cited by the Warley club organisers as key to their decision not to go ahead.
The announcement was made at a video press conference held on June 17th.
Exhibition Manager Nigel Smith said that the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition is all about showing the model railway hobby at its best and most diverse, and personal interaction, often on a one-to-one basis is part of the experience, especially so for the younger visitors.
He added that running the event to comply with social distancing requirements, restricted entry, and the enforcement of strict and regimented movement of people around the hall, would all have had a negative impact on the experience.
Some alternative activities via social media are being considered for that weekend and Nigel assured everyone that the team was continuing to work very hard behind the scenes so as to deliver a fantastic show in 2021.
Advance tickets already purchased for 2020 will be accepted for 2021, though refunds can be obtained by emailing email@example.com, or by returning them together with a stamped addressed envelope to Warley MRC Exhibitions Ltd, Unit 1 F Pearsall Drive, Oldbury, West Midlands, B69 2RA.
The dates for Warley National Model Railway Show 2021 have been confirmed as on 27th and 28th November.
