Church Lane Publishing’s only magazine is BEST OF BRITISH – ‘a monthly magazine celebrating all that’s best about Britain’. MMC won the rights to the distribution in April 2006 and in conjunction with Church Lane has successfully grown the sales each year subsequently. Using a limited budget for newstrade retail promotions MMC has implemented a targeted campaign to ensure that sales are maximised in a cost effective way. |

So how has this been achieved? MMC quickly identified that its initial strategy should include increasing the number of WH Smith High Street stores taking the magazine. This was due to sales being strong in the stores that were already stocking and MMC put together a plan with Church Lane with the aim of demonstrating to the retailer that more sales were possible. This was achieved in 2007 with an increase of 62% in agents handling and a 13% growth in sales. The second element was to increase the number of independent newsagents handling. These retailers are key because the readership demographic is more likely to live in rural locations and shop locally. Profiling the magazine against YOURS, identified over 3000 new agents and the resulting expansion of distribution grew sales by 9%. This strategy combined with further investment in the magazine itself, has proved to be very successful with the magazine continuing to grow into 2008. |

Edibas - MMC eases Edibas SRL into the UK collectables market

Having never distributed to the UK before, Italian stickers & collectables publisher Edibas needed detailed advice and close support to launch several new products into the UK newstrade. Using years of experience, MMC were able to advise Edibas on the whole distribution process. As Signor Marco Sighinolfi, publisher of Edibas explains: "We were completely new to the UK market, and needed direction on every aspect of launching, from knowing which retailers we needed to target through to advice on budget and how much volume we needed to print. Throughout the whole process MMC were extremely knowledgeable and professional in their dealings with us and in their representation of our products to retailers. They were also able to produce accurate sales forecasts through a thorough auditing process and full use of available EPoS data. We are looking forward to launching many more products into the UK, confident in the knowledge that MMC will be with us to represent our products every step of the way." Edibas and MMC have to date had a number of great successes in the UK with the unique Lamincard collectable format, and are keen to build on these by bringing innovative toy and confectionary products to the market in the near future. |
